Purpose

As a Support Worker, you will play an important role in supporting individuals to engage in meaningful and fulfilling day activities. Working as part of a supportive team, you will provide person-centred support that respects each individuals dignity, choices and goals.

Linked to HSE Consolidated Pay Scale: Supervisor/Instructor (Specialist Agency) (February 2026)

 

Hours:

37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred care and support in line with individual's goals, preferences and abilities.
  • Act as a key worker, supporting the development, implementation and review of individual plans and programmes. 
  • Assist in the delivery of meaningful day service activities, including education, training and social opportunities.
  • Promote independence, autonomy and skill development, supporting individuals to make informed choices.
  • Encourage and support community participation, including access to new experiences and opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals in a way that is accessible and meaningful to them.
  • Support individuals in practical tasks associated with day programmes and activities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals to ensure consistent, high-quality support.
  • Contribute to a culture of safety and wellbeing, following organisational policies and risk management procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete reports as required.
  • Participate in training, development, and continuous learning.
  • Promote a safe and respectful environment, responding appropriately to any safeguarding concerns.


Qualifications:

  • CORU registration as a Social Care Worker (essential).
  • QQI Level 7/8 in Social Care or a related discipline (or equivalent leading to CORU registration).


Experience:

  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism is desirable.
  • Experience delivering person-centred support.
  • Experience delivering positive behaviour support and low arousal approaches is an advantage.

 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of New Directions, Health Act 2007, HIQA, National Standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Awareness of key worker role and philosophy of supporting people with intellectual disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of person-centred and human rights based approaches.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to use initiative, problem-solve, and work independently.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Good organisational and IT skills.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Full, clean Irish driving license.
