Lead Construction Engineer
Location: Dublin OR Glasgow OR Ferrybridge
Salary ROI: circa €70k depending on skills and experience + annual bonus
Salary UK: £36,900 - £56,500
Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37.5 hours per week
The Lead Construction Engineer is responsible for leading and implementing the Design Management Plan and the appropriate project engineering activities required during the construction and commissioning phases of a Large Capital Project included within the Thermal new build portfolio.
The role will require effective co-ordination with the engineering Technical Authorities, engineering teams and project construction team to ensure the final design is delivered successfully during the execution phase, and any deviations or design changes are identified and managed appropriately.
-Responsible for leading and delivering project engineering activities during the execution phase of a Thermal Large Capital Project to deliver the Design Authority role and responsibilities.
-Responsible for coordination of a matrix engineering structure as required to deliver the Construction Engineering requirements of a project.
-Responsible for providing project reporting information such as progress, risks and issues.
-Responsible for the management of conflicts at an individual level and where necessary escalation of unresolved issues to the Design & Delivery Manager.
-Responsible for leading and delivering engineering requirements against the Design Management Plan for execution and ensuring activities are in compliance with the Large Capital Projects and Design & Delivery Frameworks.
-Responsible for ensuring agreed engineering processes and standards are implemented.
-Responsible for ensuring delivery of engineering solutions which are in accordance with the Works Information and relevant Design Standards.
-Responsible for reviewing with the project construction team the as-built design against the approved final design to ensure compliance and the identification and management of any deviations.
-Responsible for co-ordinating the Technical Authority and engineering teams deliver the Design Verification and Validation plan throughout project execution.
-Role will be largely based at Thermal project construction sites (including in Ireland)
Your Skills and Experience
-Ability to organise staff through an engineering matrix management structure to ensure delivery against project requirements and timescales.
-Excellent interpersonal skills with effective communication skills at all management levels and high-pressure situations involved with project management environments.
-Ability to manage conflict in high pressure situations.
-Chartered Engineer and member of the Engineering Council.
-Experienced in the construction engineering of high value Generation projects.
-Experienced in the development and implementation of construction engineering plans across complex technical and commercial interfaces.
-Advanced report writing skills.
-High organisation capabilities to deliver quality work to the agreed timescales.
-Capable of understanding the commercial context and implications of engineering activities and decisions.
