Commercial Manager


Location: Dublin 18 or Belfast

Salary: from €72,000 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance + annual bonus

Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37.5 hours per week

Our Role

The Commercial Manager will lead commercial management and development activities to enable SSE Airtricity Business Energy to deliver its ongoing commitments to customers and the Group while driving forward the strategic vision of SSE Atrocity's Business Energy Growth. This is an expansive role, and will require a strong, analytical mind-set combined with excellent leadership capabilities and the ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships within Business Energy, SSE Airtricity and the wider Group.

Key Accountabilities


Evaluate, implement and maintain commercially optimised pricing and associated governance of all Business Energy products, striking the right balance between risk and reward in order to maximise value:

Commercial Modelling

Lead the definition and development of appropriate commercial models covering:

- Business Energy revenue and cost recovery

- Business Energy products and propositions

- Third party partnerships

- Customer Life Time value models ensuring that Business Energy takes advantage of opportunities in a sustainable way

Hedging and Exposure Management Strategies

Lead the development and management of appropriate strategies to ensure SSE Business Energy both monitors its cost exposures in relation to both commodity and non-commodity direct costs, and identifies actions and opportunities to manage those exposures when commercially advantageous to do so.

Budget Production and Management

Support the Business Energy Director in the development and management of the relationship with Airtricity Finance.

Strategy and Management information Reporting

Ensure that the KPI's for Business Energy are collated and reported through the Commercial team and coordination of the continued development of the Business Energy Strategy and tracking of progress on agreed strategic priorities.

Team Development and Management

Management and development of the team.

Communication and Training

Communicating the objectives of the Commercial function and ongoing activities both internally (wider Business Energy teams) and externally (TPI's and Customers).

Your Skills and Experience

Detailed existing understanding of the drivers / dynamics of commodity and non-commodity costs in the sector

The ability to keep a firm grasp on the key levers of profitability for the business area whilst identifying, evaluating and driving to completion opportunities for growth

Understanding of industry challenges, regulatory change and impact on commercial opportunities

Educated to degree level in a relevant subject (numerical / economical / financial)

Highly experienced in the development of financial modelling and complex data analysis

Strong numeracy in the context of commercial propositions

Ability to negotiate, justify and deliver commercial standpoint

Ability to create and articulate complex commercial proposals at director level

Ability to effectively manage key internal and external stakeholders

Understand pricing structures for Business Energy customers and partners, or can acquire that detailed understanding on an accelerated basis

The ability to collaborate across organisational boundaries, whilst providing leadership on critical commercial activities

Personable and highly communicative at all levels with the aim of developing strong, sustainable business relationships

A good people manager with the ability to get the best out of others and delegate effectively

Strong influencing and negotiation skills

Highly organised with project management and governance controls skills
