Senior Geotechnical Engineer – Ireland

Salary: circa €75,000 plus benefits

The Client:

An underground mining company with global operations


+ Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer in Mine Technical Services this is a key role with responsibility for all geotechnical activities within the Mine. 

+The main responsibilities will be to plan and coordinate the work of the geotechnical department to ensure safety and health in the workplace.

+This includes responsibility for the ground control management plan (GCMP), management of quality control programs for backfill and ground support, excavation stability analysis and management of ground monitoring systems. Other duties as assigned.

+The successful candidate will be expected to work in a way that strengthens and enhances the clients existing geotechnical and planning management systems with a strong emphasis on safety management.  In addition, provide effective leadership of mine geotechnical team including career development coupled with the ability to work collaboratively with other mining functions.

Qualifications and experience

+ The successful candidate must possess a university degree in Geotechnical Engineering or similar Geoscience, have several years’ relevant experience with a minimum of 10 years in an underground hard rock mining operating as a geotechnical engineer, and have knowledge in numerical analysis (Map3D used on site). Experience with Deswik Cad an advantage.

+ The position requires an enthusiastic leader with the skills and energy to communicate and engage others to achieve agreed objectives.

+Fluency in the English language both written and spoken is essential
